Internationl Year of Astronomy

2009 is the International Year Of Astronomy! Don't miss out on the beauty to be found in the Heaven's Above! This is the year for all people on earth to take the time to look in a telescope, attend a star party or just look up and say "hello" to the great hunter Orion and all of his Heavenly friends!

Grampa took this picture of the Orion Nebula from our back yard on 12/30/08.

This Picture of the Orion Nebula was taken by the Hubble Telescope in October of 2007

Also known as M42 the nebula's glowing gas surrounds hot young stars at the edge of an immense interstellar molecular cloud only 1,500 light-years away. The Orion Nebula offers one of the best opportunities to study how stars are born.

The Great Nebula in Orion can be found just below and to the left of the easily identifiable belt of three stars in the popular constellation Orion.
